Since beginning yoga during her pregnancy twelve years ago, Lisa’s practice has sustained her through many challenges, including single parenthood, addiction, various injuries and unexpected car repairs.


Lisa has written for Yoga Journal, Fit Yoga, Yoga Magazine UK, Yogi Times, Whole Life Times and others. Her articles include features on Yin Yoga, Yoga and Male Sexuality, Yoga for Pregnancy and more. People she has profiled include Jai Uttal, Caroline Myss, Ana Forrest, and Judith Lasater. Lisa has also reviewed spas, restaurants and CDs. While writing her column for Common Ground, she explored some of yoga’s most controversial subjects: Naked Yoga, Yoga Meets Big Business, Teacher/Student Sex, and Yoga and Environmentalism.

Lisa is the former San Francisco Editor of YogiTimes, and author of a biography of Oprah Winfrey for children, to be published by Treasure Bay in 2007. She is also a Yoga Ambassador for lululemon athletica and the yoga "expert" for The Ecomom Alliance.

Weaving breath, awareness and movement, Lisa offers a flowing Vinyasa-style practice accessible to all levels. She teaches with reverence, compassion and joy, supporting and guiding students to deeper experiences of freedom in body, mind, emotions and spirit. Lisa has studied with several meditation and yoga teachers, including Maritza, Nischala Joy Devi, Amy Cooper, Ana Forrest, Janice Gates, Phillip Moffitt, Carlos Pomeda, and Jai Uttal. Her primary teacher is her eleven year-old daughter, Scirocco Rose-Maria. Other influences include Maya Angelou, Jack Kornfield, Pema Chödrön and Eckhart Tolle. Lisa is also a member of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and Glide Memorial Church. During the summer, she runs Camp Namaste, a yoga camp for children.

For twenty years, Lisa has been engaged in holistic wellness in many capacities. Her work experience includes sales, management, outreach and education for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Fresh Fields, Wild Oats, New Chapter Supplements and Kent Homeopathic Associates. Her journalism background includes co-founding, co-producing and co-hosting 21st Century Radio and Earth Network Live!, two weekly talk radio programs which featured numerous cultural visionaries, including Deepak Chopra, Larry Dossey, Wayne Dyer, Stanislav Grof, Jean Houston, Gerald Jampolsky, John Robbins, Andrew Weil, Bob Weir and Marianne Williamson.

In 1987, Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with an emphasis in Women's Studies and Communications, from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. Other areas of focus include the NIA Technique (as student and teacher), Khatak (performing this classical Indian dance form with Gypsy Moon Theatre), Herbalism, Homeopathy, Diet and Nutrition, Pregnancy and Labor Support, Childbirth Education, and Life.
